I didn't want to pay extra to pick a seat but it seemed to let me check in even though my flights are months away, but when I tried to check in it made me choose a seat. I thought check in online was free but every time I tried to check in, it forced me to choose a seat, and when youhover the mouse over an available seat it says it's an extra $15. What is going on?? At about 3 months before departure, we purchased multiple segments of flights for 4-5 people in each segment. About 2.5 months before depature, the fares were discounted by over 65%. Revenue management is not a new business model, but the vast difference in price within a short span of time seems extremely disrespectful and unfair to the customer. To provide a perspective, the following are the fares I paid, which is also the lowest available at time of purchase, and the published fares few weeks later: KUL-ICN was RM624, now RM234; ICN-KUL was RM718, now RM318; KUL-DPS was RM254, now RM164. Imagine the pain of purchasing 4-5 tickets in each segment. I believe in fair business - I don't condemn revenue management, but I don't agree with irrational, reckless and unjust pricing. It is understandable if prices are increasing as depature draws near, but an early planner who commits to a plan should not be punished.
